The 2015 Ford Explorer crossover has been priced at $31,495 and is available in three new exterior colors.
The starting price includes $895 in destination fees and reflects a $585 price increase compared with the 2014 version, Edmunds.com reported. The new Ford Explorer is expected to arrive at dealerships in the U.S. later this month.
The new exterior paints for the 2015 model are Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Caribou Metallic and Magnetic Metallic.
The fully optioned 2015 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD starts at $43,565, which includes shipping. The 4WD has a new appearance package, which comprises 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, black body-side cladding and roof rack rails, according to Edmunds.
The new package also includes leather-trimmed heated front seats, floor mats with special badging and technology upgrades like Sync with MyFord Touch.
The Explorer competes with vehicles such as the 2014-'15 Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Nissan Pathfinder. While this year's price rose, the Explorer is still a competitive option in a busy segment, Edmunds reported.
