A 2019 Toyota Corolla has made a sneak peek giving the public a first look at the upcoming sedan. A prototype of the 12th generation of Corolla has been spotted on the road heavy camouflaged, hinting on a major redesign.
The mule that was spotted while undergoing winter road test appears to have a major redesign as it was fully covered, concealing the look of the whole body design. Specific details of the body, front and rear were heavily covered so we can expect a totally new Corolla when it finally debuts next year.
According to Motor Authority, the 2019 Toyota Corolla will come out with Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) modular design from Toyota. This new design was already featured in the latest models of the new C-HR, Camry and Prius.
The TNGA platform boasts of a state-of-the-art method of producing cars that are environment-friendly and will highly satisfy customers. TNGA provides a low center of gravity for the new car, giving better suspension, stability and handling.

Furthermore, the publication noted that Toyota has already announced its plan to replace 6-speed and CVT models with its latest 8- and 10-speed automatic transmission. However, the automaker has not confirmed if the upcoming 2019 Toyota Corolla will sport this new transmission.
In addition, Toyota has been reportedly creating a hatchback variant of the new model of Corolla. If this pushes through, the new model is expected to take the place of the current Corolla iM.
Meanwhile, looking past beyond the taped cardboard boxes covering the prototype, CarsGuide speculates the 2019 Toyota Corolla is coming out with a new boot lid design and new taillight.
The publication also noted a revision on the rear quarter window frames which appear to be more curved. The wing mirrors appear to be placed in unusual height and look more angular than the current model.
Moreover, the 2019 Toyota Corolla appears to have a radar or camera peeking through a small opening in the covered nose. It seems that the new sedan will have a tool for AEB or active cruise control.
