2017 Toyota Mirai: Hydrogen-Fueled Sedan, Balances Nature And Technology

The 2017 Toyota Mirai derived from the Japanese word that means "future." It is the world's first commercially accessible hydrogen fuel cell sedan. It is available and on sale in California, Europe, and Japan, which the initial global production is 700 units and expected to achieve 2,000 units by the end of 2017.

According to Car And Driver, Toyota reveals that Mirai is equipped with 153-horsepower and owns a full-fuelled range of about 483 kilometers. The four-seater sedan can refuel in less than five minutes. It features a total range of 502 km on a full tank, with a combined highway and city fuel economy rating of 66 mpg.

The 2017 Toyota Mirai has two hydrogen tanks with a three-layer structure made of carbon fiber-strengthened plastic consisting of nylon six from Ube Industries. It has a high-pressure hydrogen tank that boasts 70 MPa and a combined weight of 87.5 kg and kg hydrogen capacity.

The Mirai comes with latest generation hybrid components that extensively use fuel cell powertrain, including the power control, electric motor, and main battery. The electric motor delivers 113 kilowatts and 335 N·m of torque. It also comes with 245V sealed nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) traction rechargeable battery pack, similar to Toyota Camry.

The 2017 Toyota Mirai highlights excellent safety features, which provide excellent protection and extensive design that are intended to address side, frontal, and rear impacts. It also features a better navigation system and parking assist. It has front-wheel Drive type and ABS driveline traction control, as noted by Auto Blog.

The sedan comes with a one-speed auto transmission, with 151 at rpm horsepower and 247 at rpm torque. It also features 17 inches machined with painted accents aluminum wheels. It has an excellent front air conditioning and dual-zone automatic.

The 2017 Toyota Mirai guarantees incredible comfort with driver and front passenger heated-cushion and heated-seatback heated front seats. It has three LCD monitors on the first row that can control the car's infotainment. The sedan's doors feature Keyfob Remote that provides keyless entry.
