Jaguar Land Rover recently announced that it will be offering the Series 1 Land Rover in a bid to revive interest in the first Range Rover. The rebuilt 1970 Range Rover Classic will cost $170,000 as its base price.
Those who understand the value of classic cars will surely be interested in the remake of the first luxury SUV car in the world. Road and Track reported that for a start, the Land Rover Classic group will restore 10 units of the Range Rover Series 1 cars advising customers on the rebuilding options including desired chassis numbers, base vehicle and other characteristics that befit the car.
This is a timely development since the company stopped production of the modern version of the Land Rover Series 1 last year. Those who have a sentimental liking for this model can now have a new vehicle that is based on the old classic Range Rover.
As an example, Jaguar Land Rover is presenting the rejuvenated Range Rover cars for buyers to appreciate how they can customize their cars to match their preferred classic specs. One of the cars restored is a Bahama Gold-colored 1978 Range Rover powered by a 3.5-liter V8 engine that can generate 132 horsepower at 5,000 rpm with 186 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 rpm, running through a 4-speed manual transmission with a lockable differential.
There are varieties of ways in redefining or reviving old Classics and Jaguar Land Rover has the experience and expertise in producing classic car masterpieces. In 2014, the company organized a group of highly skilled mechanics, body specialists, fabricators and engineers to build six brand new Jaguar E-Type Coupes based on designs from the sixties. The company also built brand new remakes of the 1957 Jaguar XXSS roadsters.
The $170,000 price for the brand new rebuilt 1970 Series 1 Land Rover is really not that high since it is still more than $20,000 lower than the Range Rover SVAutobiography. A brand new Classic Series 1 Land Rover revival is sure to revive interest in the Range Rover among classical car lovers.
