The Vauxhall Crossland X SUV is the new boss when it comes to the new line of Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUV), as Vauxhall puts it. The recently unveiled vehicle from GM's Germany-based Opel is family-focused and will sit next to Mokka X and the upcoming Grandland X.
Vauxhall's compact crossover is the successor to its eye-catching yet practical vehicle Meriva MPV. It has been viewed as a worthy adversary to Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008, as well as Toyota C-HR, according to Express UK. But this small SUV has blurred the lines between a hatchback and SUV, being an urban family-focused vehicle.

Compared with the Mokka X offering optional AWD in worldwide markets, the Crossland X only comes with a front-wheel drive. Also, it is lower by about 70mm with a smaller wheelbase. This gives it a more family focus feel.
In fact, the Vauxhall Crossland X is a full 16-centimeter shorter than the flagship hatchback Vauxhall Astra, meaning there is convenience while maneuvering around a downtown city area. This also means that the crossover SUV is larger than Nissan Juke or Peugeot 2008, but still smaller than its predecessor, the Meriva MPV.
When it comes to the exterior design, the mini SUV is less outlandish compared with Toyota C-HR and of course the Peugeot 3008. The new LED headlights and front grille have chrome accents that continue into the car's interior.
The interior boasts of the "business as usual" look, basically a minimalistic look with a clean dashboard. Its dashboard is an 8-inch color touchscreen controlling either Radio R 4.0 IntelliLink or Navi 5.0 IntelliLink infotainment system. But notable is that both systems are compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Vauxhall Crossland X also is equipped with keyless open and start functionalities. The OnStar service and Wi-Fi are also part of Vauxhall's crossover vehicle. To increase legroom, the rear seats can slide backward or forward up to 150 mm.
Other features include cruise control with speed limiter, a 180-degree panoramic rear-view camera, advanced park assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and a three-level Driver Drowsiness System.
Details in terms of its engine are still scarce. But the typical 3- to 4-cylinder petrol and diesel can be expected for the mini SUV.
Digital Trends reported that a bigger crossover will be launched before the year ends, the Grandland X. Expected prices for the Vauxhall Crossland X SUV will be around £15,000 and will arrive this summer.
