Specs for the Tesla Model S P100D have been unveiled by Electric GT during the 2017 Autosport International Show held last Thursday in the United Kingdom. The Tesla-based racing series notably switched from P85+ to the modified P100D version, one of the fastest cars in the world.
Tesla's racing series, the Electric GT, is giving professional racers a chance to experience the ride of a lifetime by testing the "Ludicrous mode" on track. The first prototype of the beefed up sedan Model S P85+ was first introduced last November. And then early this year, a live demo was showcased, but this time switching to the P100D version of the Model S series.

The specs are out of this world for an electric sedan that initially began its life as a stock. If you were already impressed with the regular Tesla Model S P100D hitting the 0-60mph in 2.4 seconds, then the modified Electric GT Model S P100D's astounding acceleration will stun you.
The electric race car can accomplish the 0-60mph in 2 seconds flat, while for the 0-62mph, it will only take 2.1 seconds to claim, according to AutoExpress. This is more than impressive for the electron juice-sipping racecar.
The Tesla Model S P100D was trimmed down for a hefty racing performance. A massive 500 kilograms (around 1,100 pounds) was trimmed from the standard curb weight of the electric sedan. The interior was completely removed, including the sears, dashboard, sound-deadening materials, and the center console. What's left inside is a single carbon fiber bucket seat, a full roll cage, and of course a rectangular steering wheel.
The car's massive weight loss isn't the only notable improvement. A power hike of 778 horsepower and a 734 pound-feet of torque now define the Model S P100D.
Of course the upgrades wouldn't be complete if the tires weren't tweeked a bit. A custom Pirelli rubber was added, the suspension revised, and brakes upgraded, to have complete a full circuit setup.
In terms of aerodynamic additions, the Tesla Model S P100D was fitted with a front splitter, a massive wing out back, and flared fenders. As a finishing touch, center-locking alloy wheels were also included. However, Electric GT has not revealed whether modifications to the battery cooling were made, according to Digital Trends.
The Electric GT championship season will begin in 2017, open to both female and male drivers. There will be 10 teams with 2 drivers and will have identical race cars. The race will begin with a 20-minute practice session, 30-minute qualifying session, a 37-mile long day race, and then a 37-mile long dusk race.
The calendar for Electric GT's race will soon be published. The cars will only cover 37 miles, so the races won't last that long. But it will be held in some of the famous tracks in Europe, such as Paul Ricard (France), Nurburgring (Germany), Estoril (Portugal), and Assen (Holland).
