The 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 is set to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show. It is said to be the automaker's most powerful model ever.
A powerhouse of 2.0-liter direct-injected, turbocharged I-4, to grind out 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, the 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 offers a six-speed manual (standard) and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Regardless of the customer's choice, Mini says that the JCW Countryman ALL4 will speed off from 0 to 60 mph in only 6.2 seconds, which is about 0.8 seconds faster than the Cooper S Countryman ALL4 (189 hp and 207 lb-ft). Compared with the first-generation JCW Countryman ALL4, the 2018 JCW ALL4 is about 0.4 seconds faster, according to Motortrend.
Other included performance upgrades are Brembo brakes, an aero kit, torque vectoring, active dampers, and stiffer suspension. Sport, Mid, and Green driving modes adjust throttle and engine note. For models with automatic transmission, the drive modes will adjust shift behavior and have the capability of decoupling the drivetrain at speeds exceeding 35mph - in Green mode.
As for its interior, the 2018 JCW Countryman ALL4 has some unique touches like the JCW-branded sport seats with integrated headrests, a JCW sports steering wheel, and a JCW-branded gear selector. The headliner is in anthracite gray, which, Mini says, adds up to a more race-car-like atmosphere, according to Cars.
The new JCW Countryman ALL4 does not run short on luxury and tech items. Standard inclusions are panorama moonroof, parking sensors, LED headlight, and Comfort Access keyless entry. Optional items include navigation, active cruise control, premium sound head-up display, automatic parking assist, and driver assistance technologies like forward collision avoidance.
According to the automaker, the 2018 Mini John Cooper Works ALL4 will launch April of this year. The sporty Mini should also come to US showrooms around the same motor show in Shanghai.
