Recent reports suggest that MINI is one to also join the bandwagon for coming up with an electric vehicle. The fifth MINI Superhero is expected to come 2019 as an Electric Vehicle. It comes as good news to industry experts as it may well be an interesting addition to future electric vehicles to come out in a couple of years.
MINI's boss Peter Schwartzenberg brought up the Superhero idea. He explained that MINI would trim down its lineup to just five core models called the Superheroes. With the 2019 MINI Superhero as the fifth, the other four are — Mini Cooper, Mini Cooper Convertible, Mini Clubman and Mini Countryman.
The elusive fifth Superhero will come in as an Electric Vehicle and still has yet to be named. According to Sebastian Mackensen, global head of MINI, the electric car is not meant to just have an "electric car" offering. He continued that it is an electric car that he hopes people will buy.
Many industry experts and car enthusiasts ask what type of car it will be built on. Upon analysis, it may somehow resemble that of MINI Countryman for being the biggest model MINI has ever built. This may be MINI's answer to the ever growing popularity of SUVs entirely dominating the market.
Other reports suggest that the fifth MINI Superhero may be a practical and small city car powered by batteries and electric motors. It may be like a Rocketman. Such model is proven popular as it is perfect for crowded cities.
Even though the redesigned Countryman released back in March is expected to help MINI's sales, it may not be enough. It is common knowledge that MINI's sales drastically dropped last year for only selling 52,030 vehicles in the United States. The fifth Superhero may help the British company gain back its momentum, but it has yet to be seen.
The fifth of Mini Superhero lineup is definitely something to watch out for. It is elusive at this point, as the British company has yet to provide more details on its upcoming EV. Any latest news relating to this development will immediately be reported so stay tuned.
