Following the lead of companies like GMC, Jeep and Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai stunned at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas when it debuted a black monotone "night" edition of the popular Tucson SUV, CarScoops reported.
Trevor Lai, the product planning manager at Hyundai Motor America, said the Tucson Night model caters to those who love the sleek finish of the Tucson Sport but "want something just a little more to set them apart."
Launched in 2004, the Hyundai Tucson is currently in its third generation. The Tucson Night, in line with its darker design, will come in the following four stylish colors: Coliseum Gray, Dazzling White, Caribbean Blue and Black Noir Pearl.
Touches like gloss black side mirror caps and RAYS 19-inch black-finish alloys are complemented by a dramatic panoramic sunroof and black-tinted glass that combine to give the Night model its signature look.
Small exterior finishes, including red Rays center caps and red valve-stem caps, are an homage to Hyundai's attention to detail and the understated way by which the Tucson Night is ready to set the market abuzz.
The interior of Hyundai's latest offering boasts aluminum alloy sports pedals, front and rear LED map lights and a perforated leather steering wheel. These interior features give the Tucson Night what Lai describes its "high appeal, inside and out."
The performance will not vary greatly in the new model as its engine, which uses a 1.6 turbo petrol that generates 175hp and 264 Nm, is the same as a Tucson Sports.
The price of the new Tucson will be made known at a later date together with a dealership availability. Car And Driver reported that roughly 4,000 cars will be produced, or half of all Tucson's car sales in October, so fans of Hyundai's contribution to the "night" trend will have to act fast when it goes on sale later this year.
