Hyundai Genesis vs 2017 Hyundai Azera
The formerly Hyundai Genesis, now goes by the name Genesis G80 will be the Azera's main competition in the US market. It has similar dimensions, similar power but the Azera is expected to win with its fresher look and more premium appearance as one can see in the teaser photos which coincide with the silhouette of recent spy photos.
Hyundai has definitely rejuvenated the Azera model and it will be the company's largest and most luxurious sedan to wear the Hyundai badge - as the Genesis just dropped it much like how Lexus dropped the Toyota name - sitting just above the Sonata. And according to Hyundai, it will “spearhead a new era” for Hyundai’s design, with the signature ‘cascading grille’ representing “just one of many new premium styling features,” according to Carscoops.

So we can see in the photos of the new Azera reported by PerformanceDrive, it will have a more coherent and fluid silhouette. Its shapes and volumes are more dynamic , starting with a front that is dominated by a large upright grille, which is visually separated from the other elements, such as optical, which appear delayed from the front, formal, located at an angle very pronounced with respect to the front vertical plane. This grill reaches near the lower edge of the bumper, side leaving what look like two air inlets, highlighted with a chrome border.
At the rear, we find a very terse third volume, with a very slanted rear window. The boot area is in perfect ratio to the rear wheel arches, which are shaped with very fluid and organic lines. The rear lights seem to have LED lights that are trapezoidal being joined by a thin center line.
The overall look is that of a sports sedan, especially the huge tires that appear in the sketch, which will help distance itself from their competitors, especially the more bourgeois Genesis G8.
At the moment, there is no confirmed details about its mechanical range, but is expected to have blocks of four and six-cylinder, eight-speed automatic transmission and will add a hybrid version later on.
