A viral internet hoax says that the actor comedian Rowan Atkinson has just died. This has caused fans to have a mass panic.
This prompted several Facebook posts, and tweets that are outraged by the sudden death of the beloved celebrity who is notable for his character as Mr. Bean.
The 61-year old comedian and is happily married to Sunetra Sastry for 25 years has become the latest personality to be victimized by these death hoaxes, along with other celebrities in the past years.
The report says that Atkinsons who is famous for having the roles of Mr. Bean and Blackadder, had just committed suicide. Suicide attempts have been the usual causes of the death of celebrities, along with drug overdose and battling of sickness.
There are a lot of spoof websites that had headlines of: "Atkinson's publicist said he had been "battling severe depression". However, he has also talked about in several interviews that he was battled alcohol and drug addiction.
It also said in the fake report that the local Sheriff's office have found the unconscious body of Atkinsons in his Tiburon home in San Francisco.
It also claims that the suicide incident was due to asphyxia. However, a more detailed investigation was said to be on the way to understand the true cause of death.
A photoshopped image of Atkinson's picture beside a BBC logo that has a text which says: "R.I.P. 1995 - 2016" is circulating in the internet. This would also mean that he was still at the age of 21, proving its illegitimate claims.
One of Mr. Atkinson's fans publicized that the actor is alive and doing well, and that the death report are just rumours and hoaxes done by people who don't have something else to do.
