Land Rover Range Rover's 550-hp Sport SVR will go on sale in 2015, according to a company press release.
The automaker says the high performance version of the SUV will "behave like a performance car," according to a company statement.
The SVR designation will be used on future high-performance Jaguar and Land Rover models.
The latest Range Rover "will be the fastest, most agile and most responsive Land Rover vehicle ever built," the company said in a statement this week.
Jaguar Land Rover probably feels this way since because of the 40-hp optional 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine available for the 2014 Range Rover Sport.
The new model was designed by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, according to the release.
Jaguar Land Rover expects the high-performance Rover Sport will compete with vehicles like the BMW X5, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, Mercedes-Benz M-Class and Porsche Cayenne, among other vehicles.
A camouflaged prototype of the Ranger Rover Sport SVR will be unveiled at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Pricing and a U.S. launch date have not been announced to the public yet.
