Toyota has announced that its Toyota Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) will go on sale in the U.S. next summer, Toyota announced this week in a press release.
The Japanese automaker also unveiled the final exterior design of the alternative-fuel sedan this week as well.
It is clear to see that Toyota was inspired by its latest Corolla when it was designing the FCV's wave-inspired exterior. The production vehicle can also be seen in electric blue, but overall it only slightly deviates from the concept model.
Pricing for the FCV in the U.S. has not been announced yet.
"Detailed information such as final prices, specifications and sales expectations will also be announced later," Toyota said, according to the release.
Toyota was able to confirm that the vehicle will go on sale in Japan next April with a starting price of seven million yen, or $68,000.
A couple months ago Toyota announced that the FCV would initially be launched in California.
On May 1, the automaker announced that it was partnering with FirstElement Fuel Inc. to support the long-term operation and maintenance expenses of hydrogen refueling stations in C.A.
"Hydrogen has great potential as an alternative fuel," Toyota said.
The automaker debuted the FCV concent at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show. At the show, Toyota said its fuel-cell vehicle had a range of approximately 300 miles and no emissions, other than water vapor.
Refueling the vehicle's hydrogen tanks takes just 3-5 minutes, according to the automaker.
