General Motors has confirmed that the 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV is available for a base price of $27,495, including an $810 shipping fee.
The confirmation means the 2015 model is sold for the same price as the 2014 model, according to a GM press release.
When adding the $7,500 federal tax incentive, the 2015 Spark EV 1LT is available for $19,995.
The 2015 Spark EV can be purchased at dealerships in California and Oregon.
Interested customers can expect the 2015 Spark EV to feature a battery system that is lighter and more fuel efficient than the 2014 Spark EV, without having to sacrifice vehicle range.
"Changes in battery design will not affect the Spark's MPGe, or gasoline equivalent, performance compared to the 2014 model," said GM about the battery in a statement this week. "Range will remain at an EPA-rated 82 miles and MPGe will remain at 119."
Production of battery systems for the 2015 Spark EV will be completed at its battery assembly plant in Brownstown, Michigan.
The new battery weighs approximately 86 pounds less than the system found in its predecessor, the 2014 Spark EV.
Features found on the new vehicle includes 4G LTE, Siri Eyes Free, and DC Fast Charging.
The Chevy Spark EV competes with similar vehicles like the 2014 Fiat 500e and the Nissan Leaf, among others.
