Volkswagen has confirmed its new 2015 Volkswagen Jetta will debut this month at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
The 2015 Jetta will hit dealerships sometime this September.
Pricing for the refreshed model has not been announced yet however. The base 2014 Volkswagen Jetta is available for $17,540, including an $820 shipping fee.
Specifications for the Jetta have also not been released by the automaker yet.
"Safety will be the big story," said Mark Gillies, a Volkswagen spokesman, according to Edmunds.
Volkswagen said in a statement that the 2015 Jetta will "feature a refreshed exterior, improved fuel economy and a host of new safety and technology features."
VW's EA288 diesel engine "will eventually replace all the 2.0-liter TDI Clean Diesel engines fitted in Audi and Volkswagen TDI Clean Diesel models," said VW in a statement last year.
The 2015 Jetta with the new diesel engine wants to rival the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. The Cruze returns 27 mpg in city driving and 46 mpg on the highway, according to EPA estimates.
Volkswagen said interested customers can expect a major redesign of the Jetta in 2017.
The Jetta competes with similar vehicles like the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, and Honda Civic.
