Ford has announced its new 2015 Ford Mustang convertible will be on display on the observation deck of the Empire State Building in New York next month.
The vehicle will be able displayed from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. on April 16-17, according to Ford.
"Taking a car 86 stories above the densely populated streets of midtown Manhattan is no simple task," said Ford in a statement on Tuesday.
To get the vehicle up, the Mustang convertible will be cut up in order to fit into the elevators.
Once the vehicle has made its way to the observation deck, it will then be reassembled for guests to check out first hand.
Ford said it is pulling the stunt in order to duplicate one the automaker performed 50 years ago at the New York City building.
"No portable crane can reach the 86th floor observatory and the spire towering above the relatively narrow deck makes helicopter delivery impossible," said Ford. "That leaves the elevators as the only viable option."
Ford introduced the Mustang on April 17, 1964 at the World's Fair in N.Y. A prototype was brought to the Empire State Building a year later.
The vehicle was cut into three main sections, plus the windshield, to be transported via elevators.
The 2015 model is nearly 7 inches longer, and four inches wider than the original however.
"New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it's the place where the Ford Mustang story began 50 years ago," said Ford chief operating officer Mark Fields, according to the automaker. "We're thrilled to be visiting the architectural landmark that has been the heart of the Manhattan skyline for 83 years with the newest generation of the car that is the soul of Ford Motor Company."
The stunt will take place right before the start of the New York City International Auto Show.
