In a game that many expected the Denver Broncos offense to dominate, it was the Seattle Seahawks defense that controlled the tempo for most of Super Bowl XLVIII, largely due to the contributions of linebacker Malcolm Smith.
The Seahawks won their first Super Bowl championship in team history this weekend after routing the Broncos 43-8 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Smith, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 title game, intercepted a pass by five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning, returning it for a touchdown, while also recovering a fumble during the third-quarter, which all but ended the game for the Broncos.
The third-year player added 10 tackles as well, which helped him earn the MVP award that could have gone to a number of players on the Seahawks defense.
The linebacker is just the eighth defensive player in NFL history to win the award, according to ESPN. He also took home a white Chevrolet Silverado High Country 4x4 for his efforts.
As he walked through a post-game blizzard of confetti, Smith shouted five words that football fans have become accustomed to hearing from Super Bowl MVP winners: "I'm Going to Disney World!"
Smith is scheduled to take part in a parade held in his honor at Magic Kingdom down Main Street, U.S.A. this week.
A commercial featuring Smith and those famous five words has already started airing on television stations around the world as well.
The tradition started back in 1987 when New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms first yelled "I'm Going to Disney World!" after leading the Giants to a win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.
Disney hired Broadway regular and "Frozen" star Idina Menzel to sing "When You Wish Upon a Star" for the new advertisement. Menzel, who voiced the character Elsa in Disney's Academy Award-nominated film, is the first contemporary artist ever to sing the song in the Disney Parks Super Bowl ad, according to a company press release.
Menzel is nominated for an Academy Award for the hit song "Let It Go," which can be heard in the movie and on the "Frozen" soundtrack. The soundtrack is currently No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
