Police have confirmed that a vehicle crashed into a horse-drawn Amish buggy in Pennsylvania, killing two people in the buggy and injuring a third individual, according to the Associated Press.
Mary Byler, 34, and her 11-year-old daughter were both killed as a result of the incident. Byler's husband William Byler, 36, survived however.
AP confirmed that the husband suffered "serious injuries" and was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio. The man's condition was unknown as of press time.
Though the incident is still under investigation, it is believed that the truck driver called emergency officials soon after colliding with the buggy.
The truck driver, identified as Matthew Coulter, is currently in police custody.
Coulter, 36, was driving his vehicle behind the buggy when he accidentally hit the carriage, according to AP. Authorities believe he was speeding at the time.
The impact even left the horse drawing the buggy in such bad condition it had to be put down, according to WebProNews.
Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating the incident to figure out the exact cause of the crash.
