The new LG G6 was one of the best smartphones launched at MWC 2017, thanks to its innovative design and new features. Similar to most flagship smartphones, everyone can expect premium specs.
The G6 has been already released last month, which is before the official release of the Galaxy S8. However, the hype was not that much compared to the S8 that because LG didn't put too much effort in advertising their flagship smartphone. For a smartphone to be recognizable, it requires an excellent marketing campaign that can differentiate it from its competitors.
On the other hand, LG's flagship phone is not that bad and can bring something good when it comes to specs. It has a large display, but it's not curved, has 4 GB of RAM with 32 or 64 GB of internal storage that's expandable by microSD card up to 256GB, runs on Qualcomm MSM8966 Snapdragon 821 processor and it's running under the latest version of Android which is the Nougat 7.0.
The G6 also measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm, while the S8 is a bit taller and wider which is measuring at 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9mm; both smartphones weighs around 163g. But the Samsung S8 Plus is bigger and heavier than both smartphones at 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm and 173g.
In addition, the back camera has 13 MP whereas the front camera offers 5 MP. The LG G6 is also IP68 certified, same to the S8 for the water and dust resistance. And when it comes to the power source, LG's flagship smartphone offers a non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery.
The G6 costs $650, whereas the Samsung S8 is $100 more expensive than the G6. With this, the G6 could have an advantage competing with the Galaxy S8. Aside from its looks, the Galaxy S8 does not have any advantages than the G6 since most people doesn't care to compare chipset benchmarks or virtual assistant capabilities.
In the UK and Australia, the LG G6 price is cheaper. It's priced at £649 SIM-free and AU$1,008 from Telstra. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will cost £689 in the UK and AU$1,199, while the Galaxy S8 cost even more which is priced at £779 and AU$1,349.
