Porsche has announced that owners of certain 911 S vehicles can now upgrade their car's horsepower production. 911 owners will have the option to add 30 horsepower to their vehicles via the 3.0S Powerkit package.
Add 30 horsepower to your 911 S with the 3.0S Powerkit package. The Porsche-exclusive 3.0S Powerkit package will provide a 30 horsepower boost with a few tweaks to the engine's electronics. The package will also add a pair of larger turbochargers to the vehicle's 3.0-liter flat-six engine.
The package is limited only to specific 911 S vehicles namely the Carrera S, Carrera 4S, and the Targa 4S. Total output from using the package would match the 911 GTS's 450 horsepower.
Not only will a Porsche 911 S vehicle's horsepower be boosted, the 3.0S Powerkit package will also bring certain modifications to the car's brake-cooling system and the Sport Chrono package. A vehicle will also be installed with a new sport exhaust system with two central tailpipes.
The Sport Chrono package includes features such as a driving mode switch on the steering wheel and dynamic engine mounts. It will also come with an analog stopwatch that is mounted on the dashboard.
For current owners of turbocharged Carrera S, Carrera 4S, and Targe 4S vehicles, the German sport car manufacturer will allow the addition of the 3.0S Powerkit package retroactively. This is provided that the vehicles are already equipped with the Sport Chrono package.
A retroactively fitted 3.0S Powerkit package will bring to the owners expanded Porsche Connect features. One such feature is an integrated SIM card with LTE connectivity for navigation and infotainment purposes.
The cost of the 3.0S Powerkit package is a whopping US$12,350 on 911 S vehicles equipped with the standard seven-speed manual transmission. The package's price will go even higher for those that have the PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission equipped by US$520 bringing the total up to a ridiculous US$12,870.
