The 2018 Lexus LC 500 is one of the most-awaited cars for next year. It also makes the list of top cars fans wanted to test drive within 2017.
Many Lexus fans and car enthusiasts are excited about this car. Particularly because it has been a while since the company released a flagship supercar.
Back in 2010, Lexus released the $400,000 supercar, the LFA. It's an extremely limited edition supercar, hence the hefty price tag.
On the other hand, the 2018 Lexus LC 500 prices in at roughly around $95,000 only. It is a big coupe powered by a potent engine which produces 471 horsepower up front.
It can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in roughly 4.3 seconds. Inside, the LC 500 interiors are designed traditionally.
LC's chief designer, Tadao Mori had a few things to say about the car's design."This is a new face for Lexus, one with more dynamic and more emotional styling," he said.
Mori added, "From every view you can sense the depth of the elevated elegance and dynamism." A minimal design of its instrument binnacle and a wide expanse of chromed toggle switches are featured.
"We didn't want to merely make a race car or show just a machine. We wanted to cover this with elegance," Mori continued. "Some people go to the gym to work out and want to show off. This car has a nice physique, but it is always well dressed. It doesn't want to show off."
The subtlety of the 2018 Lexus LC 500 demonstrates itself the most in the way that the car rolls down the road. Architectural Digest recently wrote about their reaction during their first drive.
In their website, AD wrote: "We had the pleasure of test driving the LC through the varied topography of Hawaii's big island, and it rose to the task, navigating the twisty roads through mountains, soggy rain forests, parched deserts, incipiently eruptive volcanic flumes, windswept coastlines, and the occasional exurban sprawl."
Lexus plans to sell just 400 units of the LC 500 a month, or less than 2 a month for each U.S. dealer. It's up for sale at a starting price of $92,000 for the LC 500 and $96,510 for the LC 500h hybrid.
