DJI Phantom 4 Pro is released eight months after the debut of DJI Phantom 4. For eight months, the DJI Phantom 4 has made waves in the drone world as it provided features and specs that meet the requirements of industry experts.
Fast forward to Nov. 2016, DJI Introduced Phantom 4 Pro which is packed with even more outstanding features. Many users then ask if it is worth upgrading even when the latest version is not even a year apart.
According to We Talk UAV, the two were broken down into important details to serve as a guide for upgrading to the Phantom 4 Pro or not. First and foremost, the DJI Phantom 4 Pro has longer flying time compared to the Phantom 4 by three minutes.
Phantom 4 Pro flies for full 30 minutes while the Phantom 4 goes for only 27 minutes. For serious photography and video experts, an extra three minutes of flight time make a big difference.
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is also more advanced as it is equipped with an upgraded 20-megapixel camera and 360-degree Obstacle Avoidance technology which is definitely a step up compared to the Phantom 4. However, for the budget conscious, it is a given that Phantom 4 is a cheaper version. Note that Phantom 4 may be cheaper, but it is still packed with features that will certainly appeal to those who are just getting started with drone photography and videography.
To add, according to The Verge, the DJI Phantom 4 Pro has obstacle avoidance in all of its four sides compared to Phantom 4 which only works when flying. The Phantom 4 Pro can certainly see all sides and be able to avoid any obstacles that is coming its way, no matter where it is coming from.
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro also solves the problem of having shaky images as footages are taken while in-flight. Its new mechanical shutter is impressive because of its added ability to adjust the lens aperture which enables the user to have more control over the depth of field in the images.
