Mazda has officially announced that the all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 will arrive at the dealership by the end of March starting $24,985. The 2017 model is a redesigned version of the compact SUV that debuted way back in 2012.
On the exterior, the redesigned SUV follows the footsteps of the MX-5 Miata and its CX-9 big brother crossover with slimmer headlights. Cabin updates will include a better-integrated infotainment screen, upgraded switchgear for a more premium appearance, and a thinner steering wheel.
The sharp angles from the 2012 model have been smoothened out, and Mazda has removed the rear spoiler. In addition, the size of the plastic rear bumper and side sill have been reduced, give the vehicle a more premium look.
The base model of the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will include a front-wheel drive, black cloth interior, 17-inch aluminum wheels, push-button starter and Smart City Brake Support. It will also include a 7-inch color touchscreen and center console Commander control knob to handle infotainment duties.
Meanwhile, the mid-range Touring trim starts at $26,855 and adds leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, LED headlights, blind spot monitoring, reclining rear seats, dual-zone climate control, rear USB ports, and keyless entry. It can also include Mazda's entire active safety features, which includes an updated version of Mazda Radar Cruise that capable of operating at all speeds, and Touring Preferred Equipment Package that adds a power moonroof, navigation, power liftgate, and 10-speaker Bose audio.
The Grand Touring trim starts at $30,335 for a front-drive version and $33,465 for an all-wheel-drive version equipped with the $1,830 Grand Touring Premium Package and painted in Soul Crystal Red. This trim comes standard with 19-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, leather upholstery, and LED fog lamps and taillights. Premium Package will add a head-up display, heated steering wheel, outboard rear seats and a windshield wiper de-icer.
Under the hood, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 offer a choice of two petrol and one diesel SkyActic engines. The petrol engines are a 2.0-liter or the more powerful 2.5-liter, and the clean diesel is a 2.2-liter. Mazda said that a 2.2-liter diesel engine would be coming to North America.
