The 2017 Geneva Motor Show is one of the world's largest and prominent auto shows. The SUV segment has always attracted many buyers, and it's obvious that the SUV line-up in this year's event will surely attract considerable attention. So here are the top 5 SUVs that caught people's attention this year.
Volvo XC60. Volvo revealed the second generation of XC60 at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.The SUV is based on the current Scalable Product Architecture designed platform that is used by the XC90. It gets the Thor Hammer headlamps, while the rear taillights are sleeker and extended to the tailgate.
The diesel version comes in two variants - the 232bhp D5 diesel with PowerPlus technology and the 187bhp D4 diesel. Meanwhile, the petrol version will be available as a T5 turbo engine that produces 254bhp and a supercharged T6 engine that makes an impressive 316bhp and 400Nm of torque.
Audi Q8 Concept with Sports. The Q8 concept is equipped with a 3.0 TFSI engine that produces 443bhp which works with an Electrically Powered Compressor technology and a mild hybrid system. Powered by a 20kW motor, this concept version has a combined power output of 470bhp and 700Nm of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to Quattro four-wheel drive.
Mercedes-Maybach G650 Maybach. This is the most expensive SUV in the world. Its long wheelbase and widened body place the SUV above the rest. The four-door G650 measures 5345 mm in length, 2110mm in width and 2335mm in height. This beast is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 petrol engine that produces 621bhp and is paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
SsangYong XAVL Concept. This SUV is inspired by the second-generation Korando from the 1990s. It's powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine and a 1.6-liter diesel engine. One the inside, it gets a large 10.25-inch LCD display as well as new connected car technology that controls the navigation, heating, and aircon. The XAVL Concept once in production form will be equipped with an advanced emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane change assist, high beam assist, and rear cross traffic alert. The production version will only be unveiled in 2020.
Range Rover Velar.The Velar is the latest in the Range Rover family which was revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show ahead of its official launch in Europe in the next few months. The new model will get a 247bhp and 365Nm of torque along with the 237bhp Ingenium diesel that develops 500Nm of torque. The diesel model is anticipated to get a 3.0-liter turbocharged that makes 295bhp and 700Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and drive all four wheels.
