Two of the greatest Japanese road beasts, Mazda MX-5 Miata and Nissan GT-R battle it out to determine which one reigns supreme. Both Japanese car manufacturers have been consistently producing the best vehicles and the competition ensues as both the GT-R and MX-5 try to outdo each other.
According to Auto Mentality, the Nissan GT-R is relentless and immediately aggressive. It roars like an angry beast but the sound is beautiful to listen to. As others may perceive it as nothing but roaring noise, for the car enthusiasts, its revving sound is like Mozart's or Beethoven's classical piece. However, it seems that the noise may just be one of the noteworthy aspects of the GT-R.
Driving a GT-R proves to be a little challenging to drive down the freeway. The driver has to work a little extra to stay in between the lines. It also gives a comfortable ride when stuck in traffic but it seems a little awkward and inappropriate. Well, nothing is good when stuck in traffic in the first place, regardless of the vehicle as cars are designed to move fast and free and not creep up like slugs.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata, on the other hand, doesn't produce the kind of sound the GT-R produces upon starting the engine. It is reported to sound throaty. It also sounds and feels fast when driving, however, that is not the case. It is not a fast vehicle. Good thing, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is incredibly engaging. The naturally aspirated engine of the MX-5 may not produce as much power, but it is willing.
Like the GT-R, the MX-5 also is not so good as it blasts down the freeway. It is even suggested to take the back roads instead. Getting stuck in traffic is also uncomfortable as everything else look bigger when driving a Miata. However, the MX-5 wins by a mile and trumps the GT-R in gas mileage.
As added by Car and Driver, Godzilla, as the GT-R's nickname, gets a makeover for its 2017 model. It will have additional boost as it is powered by 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 which is capable of delivering 565-horsepower compared to Mazda MX-5 Miata's 2.0-liter four-cylinder and is only capable of delivering 155-horsepower which proves that it is not a fast car as earlier reported.
At the end of the day, both road beasts offer something to tickle the fancy of the most discerning car buyers, especially to the ones interested and highly invested in vehicles of this kind. Buying a Nissan GT-R or a Mazda MX-5 Miata is definitely influenced by a desire for speed. Having said that, the Nissan GT-R wins the battle!
