Both Camaro and Mustang have been closest rivals and this goes way back 1960's. Just when everyone thought the rivalry has already been settled, here comes latest Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro reviving decades of unsettled business. Industry experts have weighed in their thoughts to finally put the competition to a halt. Which among the two is the best?
According to The Car Connection, the competition is very close, to say the least. In regards to expert rating, Ford Mustang leads by barely a little margin with 7.3 points out of a possible 10. The Chevrolet Camaro is very close behind having 7.0 points. In terms of people's votes, the Mustang leads by having 243 compared to Camaro's 239- mere four points!
To begin the battle, both cars take modern retro to a whole new level because of its low and wide stance and muscular look and appeal. However, the Camaro has a gun-slit greenhouse which makes for an unattractive look. The Mustang on the other sports a more pleasing canopy. Exterior wise, experts think that the Mustang takes over Camaro, however, others may think otherwise.
The Mustang has also been rated higher in terms of quality and comfort. It has been tested to have a little bit more cabin space which translates to ultimate comfortable experience for both the passengers and the driver. Camaro's interior is considered uncomfortable for being tight and cramped. The trunk is also shallow and narrow.

However, it is important to note why consumers buy such vehicles. Passenger comfort is an important factor but power and performance are what matter the most. In this aspect, the Camaro performs better because of its excellent handling. The Alpha platform takes its handling to a whole new level which can also be even more enhanced with Magnetic Ride Control adaptive dampers.
The Mustang, on the other hand, offers good road experience because of its independent rear suspension. However, the Mustang proves to be flat through corners. In terms of performance, the Camaro wins.
Most importantly, which among the two wins in power? Camaro is powered by 335-horsepower V-6 engine which accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 5 seconds. As added by Torque News, the 2017 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is powered by a 5.2-liter flat-plane V-8 engine capable of producing 526-horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. In this aspect, it may be considered a draw as both comes with different drivetrains producing varying power and speed.
Deciding on which is better among the two is definitely a tough call. However, for any competition, one has to emerge as the winner.
