NBA trade deadline often brings in surprises as teams try to make themselves better by acquiring players who will bring them closer to the title. The players brought in could turn out to be the key who will turn the game around for the team. This year, Pelicans bag DeMarcus Cousins in a huge deal.
The Sacramento Kings have decided to part with DeMarcus Cousins who now finds his place with New Orleans Pelicans. This deal came out of the blue and surprised everyone including Cousins' manager. After the All-Star Game, it was assumed that Cousins will continue his season with the Kings, reported CBS Sports.
Kings traded their center to the Pelicans to get in return the guards Tyreke Evans, Buddy Hield and Langston Galloway. Also, Kings got the 2017 first- and second-round picks. Along with Cousins, Omri Casspi will also now be a part of Pelicans, reported Sporting News.
Here is an update as to what has happened before the NBA trade deadline till now:
On February 19, in the trade between Pelicans and Kings, Pelicans acquired DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi. The Kings, on the other hand, got Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and 2017 first-round draft pick and 2017 second-round pick.
On February 18, Nuggets got Mo Williams and cash considerations. At the same time, Hawks got traded player exception.
On February 14, Raptors got Serge Ibaka and Magic got Terrence Ross and the 2017 first-round draft pick. On February 13, Cavaliers got 2017 second-round draft pick and in exchange, the Hornets got Chris Andersen. They also have some leverage as they get some cash considerations.
On February 12, Trail Blazers got Jusuf Nurkic and the protected 2017 first-round draft pick. On the other hand, the Nuggets get Mason Plumlee and the 2018 second-round draft pick along with cash considerations.
On Feb 7th, Cavaliers got Kyle Korver and Hawks got Mike Dunleavy, Mo Williams, protected first-round draft pick, and cash considerations. On February 2nd, Hornets got Miles Plumlee and Bucks got Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes.
