The 2019 Ford Focus was testing somewhere in Europe. The newest Ford hatchback is expected to release late next year as a 2019 model.
Significance. The third generation Focus needs to be nothing short of fantastic. The first-gen 2005 to 2011 model was sinfully bad. The second-gen Focus was rated very highly and even made it to the top 10 best cars list across several reputable websites.
This year, Ford needs to make another remarkable car considering all of the competition, according to Car and Driver. The Mazda 3, the Volkswagen Golf, the Honda Civic, and even the Chevrolet Cruze are all great cars that offer excellent performance.
Platform. The new Ford is expected to add a touch of refinement to the old model. It is projected to weigh less, increase its stiffness, and have better safety features to keep up with global crash standards. Hopefully, the 2019 Ford Focus will also keep the unique suspension tuning and rigid body.
Motor 1 has reported that the latest Focus was promised by a Ford representative to have a "sleek look of a coupe." However, the prototype does not appear to have a more raked roofline than the current generation and does not look very coupe-like. But this remains to be seen since the car was camouflaged.
The body-side styling does look more sculpted. It sweeps up from just behind the front wheel to ride along the top of the rear fender. The new Ford Focus will also feature the American automaker's corporate two-slat grille.
Overall, it does not look like it will have groundbreaking new styling. Inside, the Focus seems to look "cheap looking" but does borrow elements from the celebrated Fiesta model. This could be because the car is still under development and will be subject to much change in the future.
Powertrain. The current generation Focus has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 160 horsepower. Its 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost model can get 123 horsepower. Those engine choices are expected to remain the same. However, Ford is supposed to adopt a new turbocharged, small displacement four-cylinder as an additional engine or it could replace the three-cylinder.
Estimated Arrival and Price. The new 2019 Ford Focus is expected to make its debut sometime next year in the United States. It will most likely have a starting price of around $17,000 to $18,000.
