The Ford Focus Electric is a rare Pokémon. Ford only has them available in very limited quantities and only in certain areas. It is a very fun car to drive and it looks almost exactly like the well-loved Ford Focus but it's an electric vehicle that saves the world one gallon at a time.
Pros and Features. The 2017 Ford Focus Electric is fun to drive and looks like a normal hatchback. It has fast-charging DC at long last! It has a much-needed longer range now as well.
The car is a compact five-door hatchback similar to the top of the line Focus. It remains relatively unchanged from the 2012 model except it adds a few unique design aspects. Additionally, it is now more energy efficient and has a longer, although still limited, range.
This is the single battery-electric vehicle that Ford has to offer all across the world. After being outdated and one of the most expensive electric vehicles available, the Focus Electric finally got a huge revamp!
Cons. The car is very hard to find in very limited quantities. It also has a much-compromised load bay. The car was only made to be a compliance car.
This means that it is only sold in limited quantities so that Ford can meet zero-emission vehicle sales. These requirements are also set in California and other similar states.
What's New? One of the most important changes to the latest Ford Electrics is its price! The 2017 Ford Focus is now $10,000 less than the 2014 model. In addition, it now has DC fast-charging as well as a longer range.
Models. The 2017 Ford Focus Electric only comes in one standard hatchback model. It is roughly equivalent to a non-electric Focus Titanium. Similar to the top-of-the-line Titanium, the Electric has a rear spoiler, an eight-way power driver seat, and leather upholstery. It adds xenon headlights and LED taillights.
Pricing. The 2016 and 2017 Ford Focus both have a starting price of $30,000. This is now $10,000 less than the 2014 Focus Electric.
Verdict. The 2017 Ford Focus Electric is fun to drive and has seen a great deal of improvement. Ford should have them more readily available and make it one of their priorities since its features are getting better and better.
