Kia has finally revealed the full price details of its best-selling Rio hatchback, including specs, tech, and design upgrades. The 2017 Kia Rio was initially previewed at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and now it has hit dealerships in the UK.
This is the fourth-generation of Kia's Rio hatchback that made headlines in 2000. The 2017 Kia Rio promises to be more practical and safer and will be more technologically advanced compared with its predecessor.

Relatively, this 4th-generation hatchback was based on the 2016 Hyundai i20. However, the 2017 Kia Rio comes with a "tiger nose" front grille matched with U-shaped LED running lights. Among the other improvements to the car are new connectivity options, a new 1.0-liter petrol engine, a stiffer chassis, and a revised suspension setup.
Meanwhile, the interior of the Rio is solid and dependable. But opting for the higher-end models, a bit of fancier color will be added. Also, Kia has opted for the 5-door model, instead of the 3-door one, to fulfil its promise of being more practical.
In order to improve cabin space, the newly refreshed Rio has a 10 mm increase in the wheelbase, as part of the overall 15mm length augmentation. Plus, it boost space has increased from 288 li to 325 li, according to AutoCar. Its fuel economy is 56.5 mpg matched with 114g/km of CO2 emissions.
Express UK reports that there are 3 trim levels to the 2017 Kia Rio, namely, one, two, and three, each with its own price range and specs. Also, a limited-run first edition has been launched alongside the other trim levels.
Starting from $15132.89 or £11,995, this model is equipped with new engines, stability control, heated and electric folding mirrors, automatic lights, and hill-start assist technology, which is standard. The 3.8-inch display screen with Bluetooth connectivity comes as standard to all trim levels.
The second trim level starts at $17347.29 or £13,745. It comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, a 5-inch screen, and a DAB radio. And then you have the 3rd trim level, which is the most expressive. Prices begin at $20549.62 or £16295. This model gains 16-inch alloy wheels, black faux leather, 7-inch display screen, automatic air conditioning matched with a defogging system, and heated front seats and steering wheel.
Lastly is the First Edition 2017 Kia Rio. It has 17-inch alloy wheels, stainless steel pedals, LED rear lights, and smart key entry system. It is priced starting $22008.61 or £17445.
The new car comes in 1.0-liter T-GDi engines available at either 99 or 118 bhp, with a 171 Nm of torque. The 99bhp has a 62.8mpg and 102g/km of CO2 emissions, while the 118bhp has 60.1mpg and 107g/km. Its 0-60mph acceleration times are 10.3 and 9.8 seconds, respectively, with top speed of 115mph.
Meanwhile, the 1.4-liter diesel has 240Nm of torque and a 0-60mph dash of either 13.5 or 11.6 seconds. The 1.25-liter petrol engine can produce 83bhp with 121Nm of torque. Kia claims that its 0-60mph is 12.5 seconds.
The Rio is the company's best-selling model and this vehicle is hugely important for the company. Overall, the 2017 Kia Rio is larger and safer and more advanced compared to its predecessors.
