Sony has just released the official announcement for the release date of the anticipated "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin." The upcoming game is coming out on Feb. 21 and is reportedly not a second chapter of the original "Psychonauts." Here are some details on this upcoming PlayStation VR exclusive title.
Sony has announced the release date of its latest title, "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin" through its official blog site. The new title is marked a PlayStation VR exclusive and is now joining the wide range of VR games like "Ace Combat 7," "Batman: Arkham VR," and "Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience."

The announcement clarified that the upcoming "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin" is not the second chapter of the original "Psychonauts" which is currently available for PS4 as a PS2 Classic. The post explained that the upcoming game is a standalone chapter of the saga. It will feature the events in between the original "Psychonauts" and the future sequels.
Although "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin" is not a second chapter of the original, the post reveals that the arc of the new game will pick up from where the original game has left off. Fans can recall that the original game ended with Raz, Lili, Sasha, Milla, and Coach Oleander were traveling to save the Grand Head of the Psychonauts, Truman Zannotto. As they journey, they will be led into the core of the Rhombus of Ruin.
Rhombus of Ruin is the unfathomable portion of the ocean which can be compared to equal two roundtrips to Bermuda Triangles. The team will end up being kidnapped in the Rhombus, which will force Raz to utilize his psychic abilities.
Raz has three missions to achieve: reunite his buddies, unveil the identity of the kidnapper, and rescue Truman. Apparently, Raz will have to battle with time as the madness of Rhombus is about to consume their minds.
In the upcoming "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin," the player will take the role of Raz, who is now translated into a full-grown member of the elite team of global psychic secret agents, the Psychonauts. The player will enter into the paranormal world of Raz where he can make use of different psychic powers such as the power of Clairvoyance, Telekinesis and Pyrokinesis.
Meanwhile, Double Fine has already announced the upcoming sequel "Psychonauts 2." The upcoming sequel is anticipated to come out in 2018, IGN has noted.
