It was back in 1971 when the name "Demon" was first used by Dodge. The Demon was used to name a hardtop, 2-door variant of the Plymouth Duster. This became the Dodge Dart, eventually. And now, the company has brought back the concept car.
Speculations regarding the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon's exterior and interior are rife, including its power and speed. What we know so far regarding its technical specifications is that this surely will be faster and lighter than the Hellcat.
MotorTrend reported that 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon's power will be sent to all of its 4 wheels via a ten-speed auto transmission. Also, power will come from a better version of the Hellcat's 6.2-liter HEMI® V8 engine that delivers a massive 707 horsepower and 650-pound-feet of torque.
According to Car and Driver, adjustments on the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon are going to be made on the suspension, brakes, steering, and wheels. The report furthered that the company will have to make use of lighter components in the car's cabin. With the muscle car lighter, higher performance numbers could be achieved.
A recently released teaser video was entitled "Reduction" pointed to the Demon's 200-pound weight reduction. It will be lighter compared with the Hellcat, which weighs 4,493 pounds.
Pricing for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is yet to be officially revealed by the company. But the muscle car might cost a bit higher compared with its predecessor, the Hellcat. The Challenger SRT Demon is scheduled to make its debut at the NYIAS on April 12.
