Acer recently unveiled a new notebook in its TravelMate line. The new TravelMate Spin B1 is a two-in-one device geared towards students and commercial consumers.
The Acer TravelMate Spin B1. The new TravelMate is noticeable for its ruggedness and support for the new Windows Ink. It is not your usual slim and sleek notebook.
The new TravelMate is designed for on-the-go professionals who are looking for a device that can withstand the hustle and bustle of a busy day. It is shock-resistant all thanks to a rubber frame. The screen, on the other hand, is impact-resistant. In addition, the keyboard of the new TravelMate can withstand spills of up to 11 ounces of water. This is possibly through what the tech company calls a "unique gutter system" underneath the keyboard.
The TravelMate Spin B1 will be available in two variants. One will be an HD notebook with a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution and the other one a full-HD notebook with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.
As a two-in-one device, the Spin B1's display is on a hinge that can rotate 360 degrees to allow different modes of use. One can set it up in stand, tend, or tablet modes apart from the default laptop mode. It comes with a stylus to work with the built-in Windows Ink.
The new TravelMate will feature dual-band 2 x 2 MIMO 802.11ac capable of strong wireless connections, two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader. Battery life is up to 13 hours and it is speculated that a large battery is housed within its rather large frame.
Other specs and its retail price have not been released by Acer yet. These details will be made available during the second quarter of 2017 which is when the tech company will launch the TravelMate Spin B1.
