Amidst the negative preliminary reviews, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime is very positive that the upcoming Switch console will not have the same fate with the Wii U. The exec details why the new console is different from the latter.
In an interview with GameSpot, the president gave out several interesting points about the Nintendo Switch. According to Fils-Aime, the new device is practically a home console that has mobility functions as gamers can play anywhere and with anyone. This is actually the company's selling point for the new system.
Unfortunately, president admitted that the company was not able to relay effectively the value of the first system, the Wii U. The previous system makes use of a tablet-like controller to provide various gameplay experiences and gamers were not fully informed about this proposition.
The president pointed out that they have communicated well about the new system's proposition. In fact, the new console has earned positive responses as evident with the number of views on YouTube and that it lands on the Twitter trending topics list too. Fils-Aime even mentioned that his friends from high school, which he has not communicated with since the last 30 years, have now contacted him, expressing their desire to try out the new Switch.
Another reason why the previous Wii U did not fare well in the market is that, Nintendo was not able to provide a steady flow of compelling games. In the recent interview, Fils-Aime emphasized that the new console comes with more compelling games and promised that it will not have shortage in strong games.
Fils-Aime knew the value of frequently releasing new strong games as a critical component to maintain the engagement of users with the new console. The executive explained that there were large gaps in releasing new games in the previous Wii U which led to the loss of interest of the users, and this aspect will be improved in the new system.
