Google Pixel and Pixel XL are selling like pancakes at Verizon. New data revealed that despite the holidays being over, demand for Google's very own Android devices are exceeding the unit's supply. Google simply cannot keep up.
Although admittedly the phones are not without flaws, the lack of supply indicates sales are higher that what Google initially anticipated. And Verizon is raking in the $25 million investment it spent in marketing the units.
On the other side, the unavailability of the units has hurt both Pixels. The Verge reported that the 128GB XL has not been in stock since November 30 and it is already January. Plus, as the holder of exclusive rights to Google's smartphones, buying experience at Verizon is not good for its customers as most units are out of stock.

A Wave7 Research was conducted on 50 carrier stores in the previous week. Data indicated that Google Pixel accounted for 9.5 percent of Verizon smartphone sales at Big Red, according to Digital Trends. In fact, the Pixel accounted for 12.3 percent of smartphone sales in the early days of December and was even hotter during the holiday season.
Although Verizon has exclusivity of the units, they can still be used with other US carriers such as T-Mobile. A number of customers are buying the units and taking them to other carriers. Wave7 Research wrote: "AT AT&T/T-Mobile/Sprint stores, 39 percent of reps (13 of 33) are aware of an average of ~2 Pixel activations each at these 13 stores."
Google's smartphones debuted last October 2016 and have since then been popular with customers and critics. This could be attributed to the not-so-impressive iPhone 7 and the disastrous Samsung Note 7. Regardless, the power of Google still is unprecedented.
Google has not officially released numbers on how both Pixel phones are performing in the current market. In the meantime, shipment of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will resume in March.
