The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage continues its development as new spy photos of it having a harsh environment testing in Sweden emerged. The new Aston martin Vantage will be a collaboration between the brand and Mercedes-AMG so expect luxury at its best. The coupe variant will be available in the market in 2017 while the convertible version will be presented in 2018.
Last time spy photographers managed to catch the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage during a test session, it was in the middle of summer this year when engineers of the British manufacturer decided to take a prototype at Nurburgring to see what its behavior was like when facing the curves of this legendary German race track.
Now, a few months later, Aston Martin moved its center of operations to northern Europe, specifically to Sweden, to continue development of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage and test it in harsh weather. Like the previously photographed unit, one can find numerous provisional elements as well as a lot of camouflage, especially in the front, as seen in AutoEvolution.
Defined as a "baby DB11", clearly the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage looks like a shortened Aston Martin DB11 with a short wheelbase and a shorter length and a cut behind. It will be mounted on a shortened version of the new aluminum platform that underpins the new DB11, and unlike its big brother, the new Vantage is a true two - seater. The same will happen to the aesthetic level as it will present a great influence on the new DB11. Both technological and technical level are closely related.
Turning to mechanical, as already proposed the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage will be powered by a V8 engine turbo 4.0 - liter original from Mercedes-AMG and probably will be offered in two power steps, as happens with the current Mercedes-AMG GT, as reported by Carscoops. Will there be a more powerful option above the V8 engine? Well, although not confirmed, the brand is considering adding the new engine 5.2 - liter V12 as top-end option.
Another aspect that is still not confirmed is the transmission, since it is not yet clear whether the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage 2018 will be available only with a manual gearbox six speeds or as an option automatic transmission. We'll just need to wait and see in the next months.
