A few months ago, Ferrari announced that it would produce a final unit LaFerrari, this week it was auctioned off to benefit the victims of the earthquakes in the peninsula area. The Laferrari for sale then becomes this century's most expensive car as it sells for about $7 million. Can the new Laferrari Aperta be as famous?
The Laferrari for sale has a commemorative plaque and uniquely decorated. Red bodywork has white lines on the front and next to the huge bonnet rear window. In the nose, where these lines started, one can find the flag of Italy, as a gift from the brand to the Italian people . For the rest, it is supposed be identical to other copies, even at the technical level.
The huge price achieved by the model is $7 million, and is an absolute record, beating the LaFerrari for sale in an auctioned this year in Monterey for $6 million and last year in Monterey the Enzo Ferrari 400th, made out of the original series of 399 copies, as a gift to the then Pope John Paul II.
In fact, the LaFerrari for sale becomes the most expensive car in the century to date as no other copy of this era has been obtained at public auction such a high figure according to TheVerge. Discounting of course private sales, as such a no verifiable records and therefore are not taken into account.
As manufacturing and Laferrari for sale ceased months ago, the 500th unit was auctioned at the Finali Mondiali Daytona this week coinciding in time with the presentation of the open variant, the LaFerrari Aperta, the roadster convertible version of the spectacular Italian hybrid hypercar. This is also the time that the brand has finally revealed that they will build only 209 copies of the LaFerrari Aperta, a strange number, but it has its explanation.
Maranello firm will make 200 copies for sale according to Carbuzz and other additional 9 to be employed on a tour that will make the brand worldwide. This tour will pass through 60 countries and will celebrate the 70 years the Italian brand meet next year. Can the Aperta be as mfamous as its successor? Wie'll need to wait and see.
