The Nexus 6P first gets the privilege to pioneer the supposedly official rollout of Android 7.1 Nougat Operating System on December 6, 2016 in Australia.
The announcement was made public through its carrier, Vodafone, in Australia. Just recently, an update posted on Vodaphone's official website confirms the initial rollout of Android 7.1 Nougat OS for Australian Android-users, at least. It also featured the December security transmission that carries about 650 MB, according to GSMArena's blog post.
To refresh everyone's memory, Google already made a confirmation last October regarding the completion of Android 7.1 Nougat OS and being deployed to Android One, Pixel, and Nexus towards early December this year. Though no specific details on the rollout date were given then, the website of one phone provider provided a list of firmware schedule dates.
A dedicated page also shows the high-level summary of what's going to happen when the new Android OS version is released, starting December 6. Incrementally, the updated Android 7.1 OS takes phases to reach Android-users in Australia, which is expected to impact 10,000 Nexus 6P mobile owners --- selected randomly during the first 3 days when it finally goes live and available.
Soon after on a regular trend, 10 percent of remaining users daily will receive the update within the next 10 days after going live; thus, covering the full deployment of the updated Android 7.1 Operating System for remaining qualified users by December 19 as its initial target finishing point rollout date, as Gadgets 360 reported.
While everyone is excited about the leakage on its rollout schedule, even if it will happen in Australia first ---Google has already started prepping up Nexus users about it. Recently, the unveiling of Android 7.1 Nougat Developer Preview 2 for Nexus gadgets allows users to check the compatibility of installed applications to run with the updated version of Android Nougat OS.
