Rumor mills have been churning all sorts of speculations around the long-awaited GTA 6 release date. While earlier reports claimed that Rockstar Games will announce it before the end of 2016, recently surfaced reports suggest that it may not be the case.
If latest rumors about the GTA 6 release date are anything to go by, avid "GTA" fans are in for a really long wait. Apparently, the delay in development is due to a newly added feature, which the game developer has remained mum about.
GTA 6 Release Date Pushed To 2020?
It's no secret that "GTA 6" is indeed in the works; however, Rockstar is currently concentrating on "GTA 5" and the studio advises fans who have been restlessly waiting for the next installment to do the same. Aside from a newly added feature, another reason Rockstar is refraining from going in guns blazing with GTA 6's development is the multi-million budget of the game.
Rockstar spent a staggering $265 to develop GTA 5, making it one of the most expensive games ever developed. If rumors indicating that GTA 6 will boast VR (virtual reality), as well as AR (augmented reality), proved to be true, the cost for GTA 6 is likely to surpass $265.
Nevertheless, it's worth noting that GTA 5 earned over $800 million within just 24 hours of its release and GTA 6 is likely to break even quickly as well, according to NeuroGadget.
However, it looks like avid gamers are not likely to hear about GTA 6's release date anytime soon.
Meanwhile, rumors are rife about Rockstar Games currently focusing on the recently announced "Red Dead Redemption 2", which according to NashvilleChatter is the studio's number one priority in terms of upcoming releases.
Announced in October, "RDR 2" is slated to arrive in the fall of 2017. This short time frame will make it quite challenging for Rockstar to concentrate on GTA 6.
As expected, Rockstar has neither confirmed nor denied these rumors. Apparently, GTA buffs will have to wait until the studio officially announces the GTA 6 release date and other details.
