Honda Civic has hit the Gold this year with it's redesigned and improve Civics which had been making news for quite some time now and is expected to break sales record in no time. The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback and 2017 Honda Civic Sedan are both impressive versions of the Civic that it is quite hard to choose which one to buy. Now that both versions are available in the United States, let us help you decide which one is a better buy.
Turbocharged Options
The 2017 Honda Civic Sedan offers plenty of engine range for people who have different taste. And while a turbocharged engine is available in the selection of the Sedan, it is the only engine type available in the Hatchback. This is a drawback for some who are just looking for good old Civic experience, according to Daily Record
When Space Matters
The interior of the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback and the Sedan is basically the same. The interior looks large and luxurious, with excellent details. The hatchback’s shrunken dimensions in the passenger's seat compared to the sedan as it measures 4.3 inches shorter. Interestingly, however, its wedge-like shape gives the hatchback a slight edge in rear seat headroom, with 37.4 inches (950 mm) compared to the sedan’s 36.8 inches (935 mm).
What the hatchback lacks in the passenger seat, it gains in the trunk. there is room for 640 liters of luggage. Better than a lot of station wagon or SUV around. It exceeds the sedan by 15.1 cu-ft (428 liters), a long shot. Access to the compartment is also large, making it easy to load, and there is a one-piece rear lid, but a retractable cloth cover. It is pulled from left to right. No need to remove anything to load large objects. Just take the cover of the way. Ingenious well.
The Hatch is Available in a Sport Trim
The launch of the hatchback came with the presentation of the Sport and Sport Touring US versions, and the first combines beautiful 1.5-liter engine powered the manual gearbox six-speed, all packed with the most attractive package that the Civic has offered to date. Of course, these versions will account for only 10 percent of all the Civic Hatchback sales in the American market, if at all, but the good news is that there is a lot more to like in other versions of the car.
Be with Sport or no badge, all versions of Civic Hatchback use the four-cylinder 1.5 turbos, but, believe it or not, it has four different combinations of power and torque, depending on the version. The Sport uses a freer exhaust system with different torques for the manual transmission and CVT. Sport six-speed manual that you see here is the most powerful version of the Civic Hatchback, with 183 bhp and 24.5 lb.-ft. of torque. Version top line, the Sport Touring, delivers the same 183 hp, but as it only comes with CVT, the torque drops to 22.4 Nm. Versions LX, EX, and EX-L, all with CVT have 176 bhp and 22.4 lb.-ft. But the manual LX rare also has 176 hp, but the torque rises to 23.1 Nm.
When Price Matters
The 2017 Honda Civic Sedan starts at $18,740 and depending on trim level and options can reach up to $30,000. The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback cost an extra $500 more for its extra style, fun, and functionality. The Civic LX Hatchback costs US $ 19,700, the Sport sells for US $ 21,300 and if you want a Sport Touring fully equipped, with leather, new technology and more, it will reach more than $30,000, according to Brampton Guardian.
The tenth generation of the 2017 Honda Civic is a very good car in its sedan and coupe versions, but the Hatchback version's extra functionality certainly takes my vote as the most suitable to buy. The Civic Hatchback also impresses with good looks, refined cabin, functional trunk and exemplary handling - in short, the best Civic currently available.
But no matter which one Americans will prefer, there's really nothing to lost with a legendary car such as the Civic.
