The 2017 Honda Civic Type R has been getting a lot of praises nowadays and the public hugely anticipates its release. However, its kryptonite might have just arrived and was seen testing at the Nurburgring tracks. It is no other than the Hyundai RM16 N, which is said to have the same power and a design as striking as the Type R.
Hyundai RM16 N Coming Soon
Hyundai first introduced the Hyundai RM16 N concept at the Busan Motor Show earlier this year giving the world a glimpse of the menacing and mean future of the N performance brand. The RM16 will be the third and last variant of the RM concept that was introduced and because the RM14 and RM15 had already been introduced, it is just right that the RM16 will be introduced next.
But like another car analyst, the guys at Autoblog believe that it doesn't seem any closer to reaching production and it seems that they may be wrong as this week, a couple of spy photos emerge showing the possible RM16 N testing at the popular Nurburgring tracks
What's more surprising is that the spy photos showed a car that seems to be at the middle stage of development. This means that Hyundai may have a two-seater mid-engine Veloster platform with a rear-wheel-drive soon. And from the looks and rumored power of it, it aims to compete with the much awaited 2017 Honda Civic Type R.
Hyundai RM16 N Design and Concept
A few simple types of vinyl and a few camouflage unsuccessfully hide the muscular lines of the Hyundai RM16 N. And indeed, the test car gives us a clear look at the body thanks to its massive side air inlets and large width that is not a conventional model, in fact, their lines are virtually identical to the concept that was launched. This muscular image is as impressive as the look of the Civic Type R.
It is said that the RM16 N will have a four-cylinder and 2.0-liter engine, with an electric supercharger that can be able to offer 300 hp and 383 Nm of torque, a power that seems to be identical with the 2017 Honda Civic Type-R as well. All that power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, while the location of the propeller position rear center, in the place where normally you would find the second row of seats in a tourism keeps the distribution weights in.
