With the lukewarm review the original Watch Dogs received on its release, the game's creator, Ubisoft went back to the drawing boards to come up with a more exciting game without the pitfalls of the original videogame's cyber drama.
Enter "Watch Dogs 2" and Marcus Holloway in the bustling city of San Francisco, far different from the fictionalized version of Aiden Pearce's Chicago, on what promises to be a better game than its predecessor. After being falsely accused as a prime suspect in a high-tech robbery, Marcus joins DedSec, the most famous hacking collective seen on the original watch Dogs game. Together, they plan to bring down cTOS 2.0 run by Blume Corporation. One cannot miss the satirical edge of "Watch Dogs 2", from the perceived evils of a corporate empire to references on disgraced pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkrelli and a Scientology-like religious organization, according to GQ.
While not exactly in the fun level of the Grand Theft Auto series, "Watch Dogs 2" still has a lot to do when it comes to tampering, or in this case, hacking into the various systems in play. While there are plenty of references to the original since "Watch Dogs 2" is technically a sequel, it largely stands on its own with its unique gameplay. While still using stealth and hacking to gain an advantage in missions, you get to use a drone and a radio-controlled jumper to scout and see if the coast is clear. "Watch Dogs 2" is world that almost feels relatable to the real one, plus you get all the seemingly-cool hacking powers at your disposal. The character's movement is also more fluid, able to quickly ascend low walls and even do back flips.
While "Watch Dogs 2" can feel frustrating at times, you get at least a sense of accomplishment from all the tasks you completed. Besides, there are plenty of funny and great scenes reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto itself. "Watch Dogs 2" is a thrilling escapade and there are times you wish you could do the things being done against unscrupulous corporations in real life. That's what makes "Watch Dogs 2" a great game.
