When the BMW M4 GTS was released as the flagship model of the brand for races on the track, the company announced that they have created a brand new BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition to join in the flanks of their sports cars. In fact, the model is a crossover of standard BMW race cars but has characteristics of its road car versions as well.
BMW M president, Frank van Meel, recently announced their devotion to honor Marco's exceptional performance in the tracks by releasing a new version of the BMW 4 series.
As reported by Motor Trend, the said BMW M4 DTM Championship Edition is by far the only road car model of the car company that is closely related to motor racing, according to Meel.
On top of the model having characteristics similar to that of the motor racing models, it was also deemed to be a safety car.
The Specs
The modified version was said to be powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo straight-six engine that was similar to that of the BMW M4 GTS. It was also installed with a water-injection technology, is able to reach a maximum of 500hp from 493hp in its GTS, can generate a steady torque of 443lb-ft, and can go from 0-60 in just 3.7sec.
In other news, Auto Express reported that the model would be released first in the UK market in honor of Marco Wittman's success in the DTM German touring car championship which was manifested by Meel. The car would be made with Alpine White shades which made it look similar to what Wittman rode on the race.
The Interiors
On top of which, the BMW M4 GTS Championship Edition would have the same body stripes, updated bumpers, and a large boot spoiler like the sports car itself. Its interiors would have bucket seats covered in leather and Alcantara, will have an MSport steering wheel with a gray 12 o'clock market, a roll cage, and standard M4 rear seats.
Its tech features include the BMW Professional Navigation System, adaptive LED lights, along with front and rear parking sensors.
The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition will be available for purchase at a price of £121,780, at least.
