Last Sunday, Jimmie Johnson dominated the Charlotte Motor Speedway during the America 500 race with his eighth win in the series. The thankful race car driver celebrated his 78th Cup victory with crew chief Chad Knaus who was as ecstatic over the radio with the win.
The Bank of America 500 race ended up with the legendary and consistent winner Jimmie Johnson over the tracks who knocked out Matt Kenseth who placed second with 1.474 seconds behind the champion along with Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, and Kyle Larson.
As reported by Motor Sport, Kahne had hopes of knocking out Johnson during the race but manifested that he was a tough one to crack. In fact, being one of the five non-Chase drivers to place on the top ten, Kahne did try to avoid wrecks but seemed to be less appealing to his rival who reigned supreme last Sunday.
How Did The Race Go
It was revealed that on Lap 229, the race was slowed because of debris and for the sixth time, during the Lap 253, AJ Allemdinger hit the wall in Turn 3. With a restart on Lap 280, another accident occurred between two Chasers Martin Truex Jr. and Austin Diller who collided into the Safer Barrier at the end of the Pit Road.
With respect to Johnson, it was a sure win for the racer as he led 155 out of 334 laps in the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
How Does It Feel To Win, Johnson?
According to NASCAR, Johnson was more excited to know that he had landed a guaranteed spot for the Chase's Round 8 in the series which will be a free trip for him to Talladega in two weeks of time.
Johnson revealed during an interview, "That is massive. I'm so happy about that. So happy to be in Victory Lane with this guy, with Chad Knaus (the crew chief of his team)."
Despite the win, Jimmie Johnson also manifested that it could be anybody's game in the next America 500 race. In fact, he did say that almost all the drivers had a chance at winning had it been not due to the many accidents that occurred during the race.
