For the upcoming Sandown 500 race, Brad Jones Racing went back through time and brought past car designs back to life two special retro-styled vehicles. The said exterior designs were to commemorate the races that Jones won in the past along with that of Holden Dealer Team's second place rank way back in 1968.
This year, the Brad Jones Racing team will bring the past back to life as it applies retro designs to its vehicles for the Sandown 500 race, according to Motor Sport. The redesigned cars are that which will be run by Jason Bright's #8 Team BOC entry and that of Tim Slade's #14 Freightliner.
Jason Bright's Ride
Bright's car is designed with a retro feel and a similar replica of what Brad Jones Racing's unit when they were still a part of AUSCAR series.
According to Jones, he hopes to make the audience reminisce about the good old days when they see the car. Since the design embodies the Thunderdome success of Jones, he wishes that the same victory will be met by his racers come Sandown 500.
Tim Slade's Ride
Conversely, Slade's V8 car was designed to look similar to that of Holden Dealer Team's HK Monaro GTS 327 -- the car that Jim Palmer and Phil West drove when they achieved second place during the 500-mile Bathurst competition back in 1968.
In other news, Super Cars reported that the retro looks will serve as the Supercars who would pay tribute to Brad Jones's racing history in the hopes of attaining the same success the team has met in the past.
The cars would be up for testing prior to the Sandown 500 rundown. The said testing for the Brad Jones Racing retro-styled V8 Supercars will be held at the Winton Motor Raceway today.
