Way back during the Spring season, Plugless Power has released a video which aims to give users looking forward to the Tesla Model S, a sneak-peak on its plan to provide charging units which are wireless in the aftermarket. But now, we wouldn't have to wait for long anymore as a new video has been released by the manufacturer which shows us the full way on how the whole system works.
The Tesla Model S Charging unit will have a power rating of 7,200 W, and this means it will be able to provide power for cars to run at the rate of 20-25 miles per hour. For those who want to buy the unit early, they would be lucky enough to avail of the said product for just $2,440 (US) dollar, with reservations requiring an initial deposit fee of $244, which could be refunded should you change your mind about buying it.
This is much cheaper, as the regular price of the said product will sell for $3,290, which is more expensive than that of the early bird special.
According to one of the representatives of Plugless, Model S, the company will begin the shipping for the units of Plugless for Model S Tesla AWD later in the year, while the let deliveries pour in. Future plans for the company would include a shift in focus to the Tesla Model X, once the deliveries for all AWD units shall be accomplished. The company, however, has not stated a definite date as to when they would be working on that.
Key features of the charger include 30A continuous Charging Current, Automatic Detection of Foreign Objects on Parking pad, a Maximum Weight of 1,500 lbs. for each wheel, and is economical, given that it is manufactured from recycled materials if possible, among others.
