In the new era of connected technology, many popular auto brands have since invested millions to give their customers a better driving experience. When Ford Motors announced the release of its 2017 Ford Escape line this May, buyers are in for a couple of surprises.
Two features which will debut together with the new Ford Escape model are remote access via FordPass Mobile and Apple's CarPlay software, according to MSN. New owners would now have these assistive-capability services as these allow people to use other forms of transport and not just their own vehicles. This simply means the software can offer alternative solutions like ride sharing, bike rentals, and smart parking reservations.
Apple CarPlay can also be enjoyed with iOS users in the new Ford Escape, according to Apple. CarPlay's Nearby service in Maps lets users find the best stopovers for restaurants, coffee, and even gas stations whether travelling alone or with friends and family on the road.
SYNC Connect is another value-added service, which is also on the 2017 Escape series where users are able to remotely lock-unlock its doors, determine the SUV's location, and even assess fuel levels, CarScoops reported. The feature can be accessed via the FordPass mobile program.
Don Butler, Ford's Connected Vehicle and Services executive director, said that SYNC Connect was designed for customer convenience and its focus. "Everything the technology does is intended to improve the vehicle-owning experience," added Butler.
A 2-step verification process is also included in the software to ensure any personal information is kept protected and setup would need to be confirmed on both the app and the 2017 Escape's touchscreen interface. The said service is also offered free of charge for up to 5 years, together with the SYNC 3, which supports Android Auto aside from Apple CarPlay, according to the publication.
