Volkswagen's latest teaser has officially made the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show a car-focused event, as the automaker has drop another hint at what its electric car concept will look like and its features.
The German company took to Twitter to tease the vehicle, which Autocar believes is a long-range EV version of its iconic Microbus, according to The Verge. The image shows the front of what looks like a van with electric concept car features.
"Premiere at #CES in Las Vegas: Latest display and control concepts will be unveiled #VWCES2016," VW tweeted.
The teaser follows a week after VW released a 10-second video on YouTube that hinted at the new vehicle, Tech Times reported. The video came with a description hinting at the car's connectivity.
"The Internet of Things is making our cars more and more intelligent," the description reads. "We'll show you just how helpful this can be in your mobile life from 6 to 9 January 2016 at the world's leading trade fair for innovative technologies in Las Vegas."
The teaser also comes at a time when VW is trying to make up for its emissions-cheating scandal, which broke last September and revealed that it had software installed in some of its diesel-powered cars to make them emit less pollutants during tests than when they were on public roads. The company intends to roll out 20 electric cars and plug-in hybrids by 2020, which could include the new car concept.
CES 2016, which will begin next week, is expected to see several unveilings in the auto world, including that of the Chevy Bolt and a partnership between Ford and Google to build self-driving cars, Ubergizmo noted. VW also plans on discussing the latest developments in EVs and next-generation connectivity at its CES 2016 keynote.
