Electric terminal carmaker Orange EV announced Wednesday that it intends to meet increasing demand for its vehicles by expanding its operations in Kansas City, Mo.
The Riverside-based startup also plans on keeping up with rising demand by filling up to 15 production and business management positions by the end of this year, according to NGT News.
Among the Orange EV vehicles receiving more orders is the T-Series electric terminal truck, whose fuel is converted from diesel to pure electric energy. The company is able to do this by replacing the powertrain and control systems, and it says that it extend the truck's life while reducing pollution by recycling the chassis and other durable components.
Orange EV also plans on moving to a new plant in Riverside that's six times the size of its original headquarters, The Kansas City Star reported.
Additionally, the automaker announced that it received a $150,000 investment from Missouri Technology Corp., a public-private partnership created by the General Assembly to promote entrepreneurship and growth in advanced auto technology.
"The matching equity investment from MTC, as part of our current round of fundraising, helps us provide additional near-term production capacity as our customers ramp up use of our electric trucks," Wayne Mathisen, CEO of Orange EV, said on the company's website. "Our company is already bringing new technology jobs to the state of Missouri, and we're looking forward to continued growth."
