Angry Birds 'Stella' Spinoff Coming This Fall, Features 'Pink Bird' Protagonist

Fans of mobile games featuring birds should be pleased to hear that Angry Birds is releasing a spinoff title: "Angry Birds Stella."

The new game has a fresh lineup of Angry Birds characters, including a pink main character named Stella and her friends.

Rovio, the game's Finland-based developer, plans to debut the new mobile game this fall, PCMag.com reported.

"Stella may be pink, but she's definitely one of the Angry Birds, a fierce and a feisty character with a great group of friends," Rovio wrote in a blog post. "Of course no story is complete without some interesting (fr)enemies!"

The Finnish creator said the Angry Birds spinoff adventure will bring users into a new part of the game's universe.

"There will be plenty of fun and adventure, but the bunch of passionate pals will also have to deal with some serious issues in order to protect their friendship and the environment they live in," Rovio said. "Luckily, Stella and her friends are good at finding creative solutions!"

According to PCMag, the pink-feathered Stella character first appeared in 2012 in Angry Birds Seasons under the alias "Pink Bird."

Stella and the other new characters will also be featured throughout Rovio's product lineup, which includes games, animations, books, toys and more.

The Stella Angry Birds Tumblr page is up and has posted a teaser image for the new game with the tagline "Best Friends Forever, Most of the Time."

Fans can also check out the latest Angry Birds characters on Twitter with the hashtag #NewAngryBirds.

The spinoff seems to be aimed at young girls, according to The Verge.

"Angry Birds Stella is breaking the mold by introducing strong, passionate characters who really stand for something, while adding plenty of action and reality into the mix," said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed, as quoted by The Verge.
